I'm very excited that A Few Garden Treasures was accepted by Juror Judy Morris for the Watercolor Art Society-Houston (WAS-H) 32nd International Exhibition.

100 paintings were selected from the 431 submitted.  The 32nd International Exhibition will be on display at the WAS-H Gallery at 1601 West Alabama.  The show hangs from March 6th through April 3rd, with the opening reception on March 13th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.  The awards presentation will commence at 7:00 pm.

If you get a chance, stop by and see the exhibit during the month of March or even come to the reception.  That would be great. There will be a lot of wonderful art displayed and I would love to hear your responses.

From a caterpiller to a butterfly in just a few short lessons

Thanks to my friend Judy Wilder Dalton, I'm being "forced" to stay in the blogging and facebook world and to my surprise, it's fun. However, all learning curves can be painful so please bear with me as I progress along this journey just like the little caterpiller.
I do know that all this has kept my art in the immediate forefront of my mind much more than it has been in the past year or so and that's a blessing in itself since I love to paint. I'm also learning about licensing art and if you are interest, please follow my link and let Tara Reed introduce herself to you. I believe you will be as impressed with her as I was. Soon the butterfly will arrive and I can't hardly wait.

I decided to start my first on-line store front with the new "up and comer" Artfire.  I plan to add one on Etsy and Ebay next.    When you get a chance, come by and saunder through. I welcome your feedback.  Once you get there enjoy yourself  but remember to leave enough time for that yummy home made pizza.  Your feed back is always welcome and you will have to get your own pizza.  This one my grandkids made for me.

January Watercolor Shows

I see that W-ASH (Watercolor Art Society of Houston) is having their 32nd International Exhibition 2009 and the entry deadline is Jan 17. Time to get to work and see what I can get together before the deadline.

I noticed that the Fort Worth Society of Watercolor Artist's 28th Annual Juried Exhibition has it's deadline January 28.

If anyone is aware of any other good shows that are coming up before too long, I would love to hear about them.
I always seem to put myself under the last minute pressure but maybe I work best that way. Sometimes it happens that really nice works suddenly appear on the easel pretty easily and then of course sometime they don't. But now that I'm motivated it's that old saying "strike will the iron is hot", or something like that.

Maybe my "puppy" Sweetpea will help me to decide which ones .. . . .

Hope everyone is having a wonderful 1st day of the New Year. Best wishes to all for a healthy, happy and prosperous year. I think we can pull it all together in this New Year. I have faith that it will be a wonderful year.

The Garden's Secret Surprises

Is this your secret protected place to go? It could be.
This is an original piece in watercolor and acrylic. Very unusual. The more you study it the more you see.
I had a lot of fun creating shapes and color harmony.  Hope you like it too.

You can find this in the abstract portfolio pages.

On the Easel

Here is the working pastel I mentioned earlier last week.
I worked hard to make the light pink rose the focal point.  I say worked hard  because the strong purple/white, red rose and orange tiger lilies really took over because their colors were so  much more powerful.  Hope I pulled it off.  Comments?

Oh No !! Here Comes the Blog !!!

This is a new concept for me but I'm willing to work with it if you are willing to put up with me doing it.  I'm working on a new pastel in the studio and thinking that I will upload the picture as it progresses asking for comments in this blog string.  At least we can give it a shot and see what happens.  So look for the "ideas on the easel" link later this week and let me hear from you.

That's all for today . . . talk to everyone again soon.
